HOW IT ALL STARTED

Once upon a time

Ecoheart was founded in 2013 and based on the ideas of simplicity and transparency. Our products and activities stem from our life experiences both good and bad, a symbol of the fact that everything that happens, good or bad, happens for a reason. To us, Ecoheart represents more than just products, it’s away of life. We want to show people, that you don’t need much to create beautiful things and even a small something, such as a toothbrush, makes a difference. That is why we donate 10% of our profits to non-profit projects.

INTRODUCTION

Transparent, kind
and minimalistic

Some people create a detailed business plan first, then they make money and they start
thinking about giving back as their last step ofthe way. We did the exact opposite. We started
from the inside, with our hearts and with no plan whatsoever. We never studied dentistry or
product design, but we were lucky and life itself gave us the lucky break. Life itself showed
us how to help, respect, and how to learn new things and as a result, so we can now produce
our own 100% natural toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouthwash. We know about the
necessary equipment, materials and processes. This is how ecoheart started outand it remains
the principle of our business.

Nowadays nobody is producing wooden toothbrushes in Europe, so we decided to step things up and began the construction of our own toothbrush production line. We successfully invested in historical machinery from 1970s, which we gradually refurbished. Between 2018 and 2019 we refurbished our machinery and started the production process. We met the right people in the right places and together we figured out how to manufacture products that are 100% natural without a single molecule of synthetic chemicals. We started producing not only wooden toothbrushes but mouthwash and from there, we progressed to the range of dental hygiene products we are offering today.

Tufting, drilling,
cutting and edging.

Our machines for tufting and drilling is from Schlesinger. Machine is produced in the plant in Schönheide in 1969, however before 1955, Schlesinger(nowadays Roth) manufactured machines in Schönheide (an area of eastern Germany). Our machine was made after Friedrich Schlesinger (the owner) moved to West Germany (Burgwald), a group of people continued to produce machines in the factory in East Germany. The second machines(Marcyn) for cutting and edging filaments are from J. Evans&Sons.

Locally rooted

These machines were originally used to make toothbrushes at the Cosmos plant in Bratislava, near to where the National Bank of Slovakia building now stands. The plant occupied the former Gruneberger Brothers brushware factory, built in the late 19th century. This plant was so successful that it grew to be the biggest brushware producer in the whole of Austria-Hungary at that time. The Cosmos plant operated into the late 1980s, but after privatisation in the 1990s it went bankrupt. Later, much of the premises was pulled down and the Hotel Saffron was built on the site.

PRODUCTION

Machines with history

In 2020 we opened our production line to the world. We are experts at our products. We know the perfect types of woods, bristles and other materials and systems. The elegant shapes of our toothbrushes are made of local wood from Slovak wood processing plants. We smoothen our toothbrushes by gentle but thorough sanding and then treat them with special blend natural oils. Our bristles are carefully attached to the handle with a silver plated metal plate and ensure comfortable brushing experience. We are also open to help to product private label products. Besides making toothbrushes, we also produce high quality 100% natural toothpaste. This further supports local economy, creates job opportunities and brings back life to a forgotten piece of Slovak history.
